Aji Merkén (Cacho de cabra) Capsicum annuum
100 Days. Also known as Cacho de Cabra—Spanish for “Goat’s Horn”—this medium-spicy chilli is native to Chile and central to traditional Mapuche cuisine. The curved red pods are used to make merkén, a spice created by drying and smoking the chillies over wood—a method developed by the Mapuche.
Plants reach around 1 metre tall and produce 7–15cm long pods.
Flavour: Smoky, earthy, and mildly sweet with moderate heat. Excellent dried or ground into spice.
