A fast-growing leafy green with tall, upright stems and large green leaves dusted with magenta on the young growth. Also known as giant tree spinach, it can reach over 2 m tall and produces abundant, nutritious leaves for steaming or cooking like spinach.

Leaves are tender when young, with a mild earthy flavour. A striking ornamental edible that adds colour and productivity to the garden. Thrives in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil.

Sow: In spring after frost, 5 mm deep, 30–50 cm apart.
Germination: 7–14 days.
Harvest: Pick young leaves regularly for best flavour.
