Carrot Dragon

Carrot 'Dragon' is a distinctive heirloom variety producing broad, Chantenay-type roots with deep magenta-purple skin and a surprise of vivid orange or yellow interior when sliced. The very thin, smooth skin means it is easy to wash and serve unpeeled, making it more practical in the kitchen than many other purple carrot varieties. Internal colour can vary from root to root, adding an element of discovery to every harvest.

A strong and vigorous grower, 'Dragon' produces roots that hold well in the field without deteriorating, and its robust tops help compete with weeds through the growing season. It performs reliably in New Zealand home gardens when given deep, loose, free-draining soil and consistent moisture.
