Chives Garlic

Allium tuberosum

Garlic Chives is a flat-leafed perennial herb with a mild garlic-onion flavour that is widely used fresh in stir-fries, soups, dumplings, and as a garnish across Asian cuisines. The white, star-shaped flowers are also edible and highly attractive to bees, making it as valuable in the pollinator garden as it is in the kitchen. A beautiful and practical herb that suits borders, herb gardens, and container growing equally well.

Thriving in sun or part shade with moist, rich soil, Garlic Chives is easy to grow and rewards regular cutting with a continuous supply of fresh leaves. Cut often to extend the harvest and delay flowering, and divide clumps every 2–3 years to keep plants vigorous and productive. Fresh leaves can also be chopped and frozen for use year round.
