Fig – Tiger (Varigated)
Ficus carica
Also known as Panache Fig is a striking striped fig variety producing conical fruit with vibrant yellow and green skin and rich cherry-red flesh. Its sweet flavour and decorative appearance make it a standout in both the garden and kitchen. Harvest from late summer to early autumn (April–May) when ripe fruit begins to fall naturally.
This variety may also produce a small breba crop in spring on old wood, with the main crop forming on new growth in autumn. Panache is self-fertile and suitable for growing in large containers or open ground. Figs are frost tolerant and respond well to pruning, making them easy to maintain at a desired size or shape.
PLANT CARE
- Light: Full sun
- Water: Water deeply during dry periods; reduce watering in winter
- Considerations: Self-fertile. Tolerates light frost. Prune after harvest to control shape and encourage fruiting. Protect young trees from hard frosts.
Sold in a 15 cm pot (similar to one in photo). Suitable for home orchards or container growing in sunny, sheltered locations.
