Friggitello
Heat: Sweet Mild (0 -2,500 SHU)
80 Days. A classic Italian heritage Capsicum annuum from Southern Italy, Friggitello is the pepper behind the famous Italian sweet pickled peppers found in delis and antipasto platters worldwide. Elongated and slender, the pods measure 5–12 cm long and are best harvested green for pickling and fresh eating, though they will ripen to red if left on the plant. Mild, slightly sweet, and incredibly versatile — equally at home pickled whole, sautéed in olive oil with garlic, or eaten fresh.
Highly productive plants grow vigorously to 1.2–1.5 metres and perform well in pots or garden beds in full sun with fertile, well-drained soil.
Harvest: Pick green for pickling and fresh use, or allow to ripen red for a sweeter flavour.
Flavour: Mild, slightly sweet, and perfect for pickling and fresh eating.
