Jujube
Ziziphus jujuba
A hardy fruit tree reaching 4.5 to 10.5 meters, with thorny branches and small, glossy leaves. Yellow flowers appear in spring, followed by sweet, apple-like fruit in autumn. The fruit is enjoyed fresh, dried, or used in cooking and baking for its unique flavour. Also known as Chinese Date, it’s cherished for its versatility, nutritional value, and rich cultural history.
Self-fertile and tolerant of a wide range of soils and climates, Jujube is a resilient and rewarding addition to edible landscapes.
