Lettuce 'Italienischer' is a truly impressive variety producing tall, upright, sturdy plants reaching 45 cm with bright green leaves and outstanding yield per plant. One of the largest lettuces available for the home garden, it provides more sustenance per plant than almost any other variety while maintaining sweet, crisp leaves even at full maturity. A genuinely magnificent lettuce that stands out for both its size and its performance in warm conditions.

Unusually heat tolerant for a lettuce, 'Italienischer' remains sweet and crisp when many other varieties turn bitter in summer heat, making it a reliable choice across a longer growing season than most. It performs well across a wide range of New Zealand conditions and suits sowings from spring through to autumn, spaced a little further apart than standard varieties to allow for its generous size.
