Patchouli - Pogostemon cablin
Patchouli is a fragrant, subtropical herb treasured for its lush foliage and distinctive earthy scent. Native to Southeast Asia, it thrives in warm, humid environments and produces aromatic leaves that are widely used in incense, natural perfumery, and herbal remedies. With a height of 0.5–1 m, Patchouli brings both beauty and function to any garden or indoor plant collection.
This perennial grows best in rich, free-draining soil and prefers partial to full sunlight. In cooler New Zealand climates, it’s best grown in containers and overwintered indoors or in a warm, sheltered greenhouse to protect it from frost. With its versatility, calming scent, and soft green foliage, Patchouli adds both visual and aromatic charm to your space.
