Pink-Flower Indigo is one of the longest-blooming hardy shrubs available, producing soft pink, pea-shaped flowers in upright racemes at nearly every leaf node from November through to April — a six-month flowering window that very few other shrubs can match. Native to the streambanks and woodlands of central and southern China, it grows into an airy, see-through shrub with elegant grey-green pinnate foliage, followed by slender dark purple seed pods as the season closes. A genuinely outstanding plant for the border that combines extraordinary floral longevity with graceful, light structure.

Hardy and low maintenance, Pink-Flower Indigo fixes nitrogen as a legume and thrives on lean soil in full sun to light shade. It may die back in hard winters but resprouts reliably from the base each spring. A hard cut to 30–45 cm in late winter encourages denser, more floriferous growth through the season.
