Ruby Red Popcorn is a striking and unique variety producing tall stalks with glossy, deep burgundy-red kernels that pop into brilliant white, butterfly-shaped flakes with a satisfying crunch and nutty flavour. Rich in anthocyanin and cyanidin, it contains more antioxidants than standard yellow popcorn, making it as nutritious as it is visually dramatic. Kernels deepen in colour as they dry on the stalk, and the finished ears make beautiful ornamental displays before popping.

Thrives in full sun, warm conditions, and well-drained fertile soil. Plant in blocks of at least four rows rather than single rows to ensure good wind pollination and well-filled ears. Unlike sweet corn, popcorn must be left to fully dry on the stalk before harvesting. Once husks are pulled back and kernels are hard and fully coloured, leave ears to cure in a warm, dry place for a further four to six weeks before popping.
