Radish - Rats Tail
Radish 'Rats Tail' is a rare and unusual heirloom variety grown not for its roots but for its long, slender, tender seed pods that resemble a rat's tail and deliver a crisp, juicy, mildly pungent flavour with classic radish character. A genuinely different and conversation-starting crop, the pods are excellent eaten raw in salads, pickled, or added to stir-fries and curries where their spicy bite adds real depth and interest. A rewarding and productive variety that offers something completely different from the standard vegetable garden.
Heat-tolerant and easy to grow, 'Rats Tail' is highly productive and performs well in full sun with rich, moist soil across a long sowing window. Best harvested when pods are young and around 10–15 cm long for the most tender and flavoursome results. Pick frequently to encourage continued and generous production throughout the season.
