Red Dragon Fruit (rooted in pot)

Red Flesh Dragon Fruit (Selenicereus costaricensis) is a climbing succulent that produces large, white, night-blooming flowers in summer, followed by oval-shaped fruit with striking magenta-pink skin and deep red flesh. The fruit is juicy and sweet, with a flavour similar to other cactus fruits.

Best grown in warm, frost-free climates. Plant in full sun in well-draining soil, and provide a strong trellis or post to support the vigorous, sprawling stems. Space plants approximately 2 meters apart. Water deeply and allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Reduce watering during cooler months.

Protect from frost, slugs, and strong winds. Flowers open at night and require pollination to set fruit—hand-pollination may improve yields in cooler or wind-sheltered areas. Fruit matures around 30–50 days after flowering.

Sold in a 10 cm pot (similar to one in photo). Can be grown in the ground or in large containers with good drainage. Prune regularly to manage growth and encourage flowering.
