Fine blend for seeds, seedlings & propagation

A light, free-draining mix designed specifically for germination and propagation. Made with a balanced combination of coco coir fibre, fine perlite, and fine vermiculite, this mix is formulated for higher aeration — promoting good drainage and reducing the risk of damping off in enclosed growing environments such as humidity domes, mini greenhouses, and propagation trays where moisture builds up around seedlings.

Includes gypsum as a gentle calcium source to support early root development, and a rewetting agent to prevent the mix becoming hydrophobic — so water absorbs evenly rather than pooling on the surface or running straight through. Hand-screened for a fine, uniform texture that holds cleanly in seed cells and plug trays. Hand-mixed by Rasmussen Gardens.

Seed & Propagation Care

• Sowing: Fill trays or cells, sow at the recommended depth, and firm lightly for good seed-to-mix contact.
• Cuttings: Works well for softwood and semi-hardwood cuttings — good drainage reduces rot risk while retaining enough moisture to encourage rooting.
• Moisture: Keep evenly moist but not wet. Bottom watering is recommended.
• Humidity: Best used with a dome, mini greenhouse, or cover. Vent briefly daily and increase airflow gradually once germination or rooting begins.
• Considerations: Once seedlings show true leaves or cuttings are well rooted, pot on into a quality potting mix, such as our indoor potting mix.
