Melon - Tiger
Melon 'Tiger' is a unique and striking heirloom variety producing small, round fruit with vivid orange and yellow stripes, weighing 500–700 grams and measuring 10–15 cm in diameter. The flesh is mildly sweet and aromatic with excellent fresh eating quality, and once ripened the fruit stores well, making it a practical and versatile choice for both the kitchen and the pantry. A genuinely eye-catching melon that is as impressive on the kitchen bench as it is in the garden.
Thriving in warm, sunny conditions with fertile, well-drained soil and consistent moisture, 'Tiger' melon performs best in the warmest regions of New Zealand where long, hot summers allow the fruit sufficient time to ripen fully and develop its best flavour and colour. Water consistently throughout the season for the best fruit quality and sweetness.
