White Flesh Dragon Fruit (Selenicereus undatus) is a climbing cacti with large, white, nocturnal flowers in summer, followed by oval-shaped fruit encased in vibrant pink-magenta skin. The inner flesh is white with tiny black seeds and has a mildly sweet, refreshing flavour, similar to other cactus fruits like prickly pear.
Best suited to warm, frost-free climates. Plant in full sun in well-draining soil, and provide a sturdy support such as a post or trellis to train the sprawling stems. Space plants around 2 meters apart. Water deeply but infrequently, allowing the soil to dry between waterings. Reduce watering during cooler months.
Protect from frost, slugs, and strong winds. Flowers require pollination to set fruit, and hand-pollination may improve yields in cooler climates. Fruit typically ripens 30–50 days after flowering.
Sold in a 10 cm pot (similar to one in photo). Suitable for in-ground planting or large containers with good drainage. Prune to manage growth and encourage flowering.
Plants ship on Mondays.
